Historical Legends LLC is run by a husband and wife team in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Years ago, our family discovered the joys of lovingly bashing each other with toy swords in our backyard. Finding the right balance of sword durability without too many injuries was sometimes a challenge, but we managed to not completely destroy one another!
One year, our son presented us with information for a beginner longsword class. His birthday was coming up soon, and he wanted to try it out as a gift. Of course we didn’t know at the time how much HEMA would take over our lives! Now, not only have members of our family gone through the basic classes, but we’ve expanded our knowledge base and trained with a multitude of weapons in different disciplines. We compete, coach, and judge in tournaments along the East Coast. We teach weekly classes for both beginners and advanced fencers. We seek out as many historical texts as we can find, and learn from HEMA masters around the globe.
As the years have passed, and our family has become more immersed in historical fencing, a common problem has occurred… Ordering gear has become an excruciating process. Facing depleted stocks and ever increasing shipping times, we started wondering if there was a better way. After reaching out and testing global vendors, we started to put together a plan. Although our vision to fully kit beginners with everything they need has not yet become a complete reality, we are working our way there!
